7 Days | Erzurum – Kaçkar Mountains – Erzurum | 3,937 m Alpine Adventure
Welcome to Turkey! The Kaçkar–Kavron Summit (3,937 m / 12,933 ft) is the highest peak of the Kaçkar Mountain Range, rising dramatically between the Black Sea coast and the deep Çoruh River Valley. Shaped by glaciers and powerful rivers, these mountains form one of the wildest and most pristine regions of northeastern Turkey.
This intensive trekking and summit expedition takes you through lush alpine meadows, glacier-fed lakes, dramatic valleys, and remote highland pastures (yaylas). Contrary to the image of Turkey as barren steppe, the Kaçkar Mountains reveal every shade of green and blue, rich wildflower fields, and diverse wildlife including mountain goats, bears, and countless bird species—making the region a paradise for nature lovers and birdwatchers.
Much of the area lies within a protected national park, and the journey is enriched by encounters with traditional villages, local shepherds, and authentic Black Sea highland culture. This tour is ideal for experienced trekkers seeking a true alpine challenge combined with cultural discovery.
