Your first stop is the iconic Bodrum Castle, also known as the Castle of St. Peter, dramatically set on a rocky peninsula overlooking the harbor. Built by the Knights of St. John in the 15th century, the castle features five impressive towers and seven gates.
Inside the castle, explore the world-famous Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, one of the most important museums of its kind globally. Highlights include:
The Uluburun Shipwreck, the world’s oldest known shipwreck
Late Bronze Age Shipwrecks Hall
Glass Wreck Hall
Carian Princess Hall, revealing the ancient royal legacy of Halicarnassus
Exhibits of ancient amphoras, once used to transport olive oil and wine
Next, visit the remains of the legendary Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, built in 355 BC by Queen Artemisia for King Mausolus. Although destroyed by earthquakes, this site remains one of history’s most influential monuments and gave its name to all mausoleums worldwide.
Stop at the scenic Bodrum Windmills, built from stone and wood and used from the 18th century until the 1970s. Located on a hill overlooking the harbor, this is a perfect photo stop with panoramic views.
Continue to Myndos Gate, the only surviving gate of ancient Halicarnassus and part of the original 7-kilometer city walls built by King Mausolus in the 4th century BC.
Visit the impressive Ancient Theater, dating back to the 4th century BC with a seating capacity of approximately 5,000 spectators. The theater offers stunning views over Bodrum and provides insight into ancient Greek entertainment and architecture.
Enjoy some free time for shopping before returning comfortably to your hotel. End of tour with unforgettable memories of Bodrum’s ancient heritage.
