      DAY 1 | Istanbul – Gonio Fortress – Makhuntseti Waterfall – Batumi

      Morning flight from Istanbul to Batumi with Turkish Airlines (TK390, 06:30 departure). Upon arrival around 09:45, meet your guide and begin the tour.

      Gonio (Apsaros) Fortress

      Visit the ancient Roman fortress of Gonio, dating back to the 1st century AD. According to legend, it is the burial place of St. Matthias, one of the twelve apostles. The site offers insight into early Georgian, Laz, and Roman history.

      Makhuntseti Waterfall & Tamara Bridge

      Drive inland to see:

      • Makhuntseti Waterfall, one of Adjara’s most impressive natural landmarks
